23-yr-old Shantel Brooks a resident of Brooklyn was shot and killed on Church Street in New York yesterday evening, after she stole a car, drove through three red lights, hit a minivan in an attempt to escape from the Police. The incident which took place at 5:40pm saw two plain clothes police officers give chase as they attempted to accost the woman. The woman was shot in the chest while a detective who is said to have Jamaican roots opened the car door; Brooks was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. The 23-yr-old woman was to face a court today for a May 2011 kidnapping and attempted murder case.
